Hindi Serials Accessibility
The communication links brought about by the Hindi daily soap is immense. Hindi daily soaps have gained attention all over the world because of easy access to the Hindi channels. Bangladesh has the world’s third largest TV watching audience – not surprising since we do have a large population. But what is more is that in 2009 we expect to have 700 channels on the satellite cable network, and that the reach of this network is upto 75 million households.
Television is obviously the main source of entertainment for these households.
Hindi serials are promoted highly in televisions. Even if the country is facing financial crisis, it will have capital to buy Hindi channels. Star Plus is the mostly watched channel among Bangladeshi women. This is because Star Plus is one of the oldest channels and people are acquainted with it for a long time. Most of the popular shows watched by the women are also from the Star Plus like “Kasauti Zindagi Ki”, “Kumkum”, “Bidaai”, “Kaahin To Hoga” and “Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil”. For fashion, the body of the women actors is exposed unnecessarily. For instance in “Kumkum” and “Maayka” (Bride’s Home) most of the characters wear transparent saree to show the blouse design.Women who watch these serials always crave for thse designs and fashion. This desire has boosted the fashion world. Many Indian dresses have entered in our culture. As a result people are losing their traditional values. Watching daily soap is one of the ways of passing time for women, but too much of watching is unhealthy. It might reduce the capacity to learn.

Every thing has two sides but hindi serial is only 1 side & this side is bad side...........
ReplyDeleteBanning anything is not the solution. U have to make the right choice which unfortunately u Bangladeshis cannot. We Indians do watch the serials but do not allow it to influence us overtly. Afterall it is fantasy not reality. Y do your women get easily influenced. Don't you allow education? Or is it banned? If u r educated u can make the right choice. And Indian dressing? What is the dress of your women? Sari...it is also a part of Indian attire. Learn your history first. We wear Dhakai saris too and are extremely careful about preserving them. We love hearing Runa Laila too but that doesnt mean that we r forgetting our culture because our culture is strong enough to let us allow admiring the good points/products of others.
